We had once the idea to provide regular nearly-realtime classrooms for a certain topic, where a mentor teaches some students a real-life task from KDE. That ranges from fixing bugs somewhere, developing something small or even translate, document, whatever is needed. Basically a gsoc in very small. It was supposed to happen on the forum in a certain area. Also we intended to integrate some IRC chat, so we can combine both communication channels into one, with the power of the forum to archive anything for later interested persons to view. See http://forum.kde.org/viewforum.php?f=71 for what we did back then. The issue with that was/is like always - manpower. Someone with the knowledge would need to be willing to mentor it for about a week. The good thing about also having it on the forum instead of only IRC is, the forum is slower. You don't need to be around 24h a day, unlike an IRC only jam. Just wanted to mention it. Feel free to drop it or ask for more info.
