We need more of this. I think a lot of people would get involved and make the effort to attend one of these (especially in North America / Canada) if the party's are coordinated. All it takes is one person per geographic / regional area to initiate this. I know one way people have attempted to get the message regarding an event like this is http://www.meetup.com/. You may find it to be a useful tool in helping get the announcement out.
