I suggest dropbox or owncloud.

Scribus is a different kind of animal. There are 2 active versions
presently...1.4 and 1.5. They are not compatible; 1.4 files can be
opened in 1.5, but not the other way around. 1.4 is the stable version
and 1.5 is unstable, but I think that the standard installation for
*ubuntu is 1.5. 1.5 has superior features and UI (IMO). Whatever is
selected, everyone will have to be on the same version.

Another issue with sharing is that the .sla source file is not the
complete document. A document must be Collected for Output to include
everything, including any images, whether or not they are external.

It seems like version control would have to take place outside of any
versioning system...perhaps notes in the common storage location.

Scribus is a great selection for desktop publishing.
