Re: Notes from Frameworks5 Promo BoF at Akademy

So, with Frameworks out of the CC, let's do this preparation. I think
the Frameworks 5 Preview should be announced PERFECTLY. It is a great
opportunity and the entire Qt and if possible C++ world should know
about it.

How about this plan (parts adopted from how we release stuff in openSUSE):
T-14 before the release date, we publish an article about what is
coming so our own community knows. Focus on importance for the rest of
our applications/workspaces, less on the Qt ecosystem value. Should be
properly promoted over social media, of course.
T-14 With that, we put a countdown up on as many of our sites as we
can - kde.org, planet, dot, ??? and ask people to put it on their
blogs.
T-7 before the release date, we send a press kit with the
announcement, background info and some quotes from 'important people'
to the press on our press list so they know this is coming and can
write an article. We offer them the opportunity for interviews with
some key people. The announcement should obviously be well written and
include a quote from the Qt Project (Lars, perhaps). Focus should be
more on Qt ecosystem value. We don't need to sell it to our own
community... Maybe have quotes from some top companies in the Qt
ecosystem: KDAB, Digia, ICS. We give the press a more exhaustive
description of what we'll be releasing, try to illustrate how well
tested/cross platform/documented it is etc. Focus on ThreadWeaver and
KArchive as examples that are ready-to-go.
T-2 The inqlude website is published two days before the release,
coming with a short dot article to further build anticipation. It
should contain some roadmap/info about the status of the modules. We
send the press a reminder (and notify them that the site is updated
and contains interesting content). We promote this also over social
media.
T-2 We prepare some social media messages for T-0: the release itself
(~120 characters, including link, so it can be retweeted as a whole)
and some messages later pointing to the released parts KArchive and
ThreadWeaver.
T-0 On release day (I propose a Wednesday), we let this go out on the
dot, inqlude.org and the KDE announce ML; Qt Project does a press
release on it and it is featured on the Digia Qt site and the Qt
project site.
T+5 We try to get a dot article out about the value of Frameworks for
our own community - where things stand, when they should start porting
etc. (combined with the initial article 2 weeks before the release
this should make up for the fact that our announcement was directed at
the wider Qt world).

Note that some of the above requires us to get help from the Qt
project and ideally Digia, KDAB and ICS. I think we can get that if we
ask in time and give them what to publish.

What else could we do?
