Yeah, there's some confusion... Most press is now using the SC moniker, that's a step forward. But: http://www.linux-magazin.de/NEWS/Long-Term-Support-fuer-den-Linux-Desktop-KDE-SC-4.11-ist-da Linux Magazin is under the impression that all of KDE SC 4.11 is Long Term Support. I mailed them: > ONLY the WORKSPACE is long term support. The Libraries have already been > frozen since 4.9 so that was their last release (we just update the version > numbers for convenience of the packagers). > > And the Applications will do at least one, perhaps two or even more > releases. > > December, the Frameworks 5 team will release the first preview of the KDE > Frameworks 5 - and a final release will come in the first half of next > year. By the time that comes out, I expect a preview release of Workspaces > 2, with a final release somewhere in the second half of next year. The > applications might not do a release based on frameworks 5 until the end of > next year or even beginning of 2015. > > yes, we should explain all this better... I'm not 100% sure this is all completely correct (but it'll be a close guess, I think). And we should get something out to explain this... As was discussed here before. Turns out, we even started an etherpad for this: https://notes.kde.org/p/Platform5DotStory I currently am swamped with work. I did put some more notes in that etherpad, it has structure, a start. And even links to information. Questions also can and should be asked from the release team and on kde-devel. Is anybody up for at least making a dent in the work needed for this very important article? Pretty please? _______________________________________________ This message is from the kde-promo mailing list.
