I put those terms in to signify the importance of what we do to the
wider ecosystem (eg it matters for the Linux Desktop - all of it - not
just our little KDE world). It should even be more ambitious,
something like "next generation Linux User Interface technology", or
Free Software instead of Linux?...

What about:
Plasma Workspaces has been frozen for major feature work while the
developers focus on the new generation Free Software User Interface
technology.
