The Dot is our news for the world. It is designed to be quoted or
linked to by tech news sites, and even print media.

Planet is for internal consumption, since it is a blog feed. Yes there
are announcements in there, some of which will end up on the Dot as
well, but for the most part, the posts are news, opinion and
commentary from individuals in the community, rather than the
community as a whole.
