Re: KDE Neon and how to handle this?

I'm sorry for the hostility you got from our side.

While I do agree with Martin with the statement that you should have
came to us before publishing the article (for the misconceptions, not
for permission to publish of course), I do not think that that
/mistake/ on your part invalidates your concerns.

I think that the problem is that most of us are not that much in touch
with politics (that is, shaping the public opinion :) ) and we tend to
think that the message from the project's website (Is this "the KDE
distro"? Nope. KDE believes it is important to work with many
distributions [...]) is enough for everybody to understand that Neon
is just yet another distribution, and that it is not special in any
way as far as KDE is concerned.

This message is something that we will need to repeat in the years to
come, on various places. I have had to explain this a couple of times
now (reddit, g+, etc.)

Essentially, whenever we see a 'THE KDE distro' written somewhere, we
need to explain it is not. I'm not using it, most Plasma devs are not
using it (not sure that any Plasma dev is using it atm), most
non-Plasma KDE people are also not using it. And I do not see it
changing - we all love our distributions, and are not going to part
with them just because one distribution decided to become a part of
KDE community.
