Hi, I would like to propose that those involved with Reddit try to push for fixing the outdated use of the name "KDE" there, to help some more with the public perception of what "KDE" means (or should mean) these days. E.g. at https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/ in the sidebar you can see the name "KDE" still listed in the group "Desktop Environments". Which has two problems: A) it's a push-back to the rebranding efforts with "Plasma" and "KDE" Especially as this is a very public place visited by people who otherwise do not get in contact with the KDE world. So their "knowledge" is created and affirmed there. And when people actually get in contact with KDE worlds, resources are wasted with teaching them about the names. Not to forget the negative experience being told to use a "wrong name". B) it spoils knowledge of cross-platform support of applications from KDE Having a single group "KDE" which covers all of Plasma Frameworks and any of the cross-platform applications developed in the KDE community (prominent exception Krita) runs the danger of enforcing the mental model of many in the (FLOSS) world that KDE software is an isolated sphere whose products only makes sense to be used together. Which botches ambitions of software developed in the KDE community to be considered also outside of the Plasma Workspaces. Especially with Ubuntu having turned to use Gnome Shell again, it is the oh-so-simple "Gnome" vs. "KDE" pattern which seems to conquer some people's mind again. Not being a user of Reddit myself, I have no proposal what can and should be done. Either the "KDE" group could be renamed simply to "Plasma" for a start, given the average questions seem to be workspace related. Or a new group "Plasma" or "PlasmaWorkspaces" could be created, covering all talk about Plasma products itself, to be listed in that "Desktop Environments:" category. That might also allow to focus on Plasma itself, where currently that group seems to be a dumping ground of all questions related to something-KDE, which does not really scale given the amount of KDE products these days. And "KDE" itself could become the place for the cross-desktop apps, possibly listed in category "Creativity:". Perhaps it could be also a group with a new name "KDEApps", which by the name would emphasize it's about (cross-workspace/OS) apps and not to be mixed with that "KDE" as perceived as desktop environment by quite some still. And "KDE" could be grouped with "GNU" as "Software Communities:" and be for anything not covered by "Plasma" and "KDEApps". Some food for thought, being frustrated myself by still seeing people talking about KDE instead of Plasma (especially beginners/newcomers) or dumping software because "KDE-only". Let's teach people as early as possible. Cheers Friedrich
