Not at all. The more specialised AMAs take place in specialised subreddits all 
the time.

r/iama is usually reserved for more generic AMAs, like actors pimping their 
movies or writers their books.

Sure, you could post a KDE AMA there,  and I would love to see a KDE Board AMA 
in r/iama gain traction, but we are not there yet. Not even close, 
unfortunately. If we want this AMA to have any kind of impact, we have to 
direct it to a subreddit that is at least cursorily familiar with our work and 
that has some decent traffic, and that is r/linux.

Lydia is also a moderator of r/kde. I meant the moderators of the subreddit 
that would host the AMA.
