Hi, Recent experiences with other companies and communities have proven to us that, beyond our bubble, and even within the realm of the Free Software community, people who are not KDE community members know very little about the technologies driving Plasma, Plasma Mobile, and KDE apps. As part of our aim to reach larger audiences, in this case of potential contributors, developers, and companies, we have been talking to the Linux Foundation. We want them to help with some of our future events and we want our contributors to participate in some of theirs. Regarding the former, we are currently talking about sponsorships for future editions of Akademy (not this year's unfortunately) and working on trying and attract the attention from Linux Foundation member companies, with the aim of gaining some more enterprise support. Regarding the latter, our first step has been to become the community partner for ELC Europe https://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/elc-openiot-europe-2018/sponsors/ We hope to get exposure from this and we are hoping to get a booth out of it too (still working on this). At ELC-EU we want to show off stuff like Plasma Mobile and Qt Automotive stuff and any other embedded stuff we can fit in there to companies and developers that attend this event. We (KDE and LF) have agreed that it would be beneficial to help them promote the event within our community. They want us to help them attract more of our community to the event (as attendees and especially as speakers) and we want more companies to take notice of our technologies and more developers to join us. Securing talking spots at the event for KDE-related technology could help with both things. They want us to push this link: https://www.linuxfoundation.org/blog/speak-at-elc-openiot-summit-eu-proposals-due-by-sunday-july-1/ And have suggested the following posts: "Share your expertise and speak at ELC + OpenIoT Summit Europe taking place October 22 - 24, 2018 in Edinburgh. Proposals due July 1." "View the full list of suggested topics for ELC + OpenIoT Summit Europe and submit your proposal now!" "ELC + OpenIoT is the place to collaborate and share your expertise with people building applications on embedded Linux. Submit your proposal by July 1!" I think we should adapt it a bit to our community, even expand it to explain the advantages for projects to submit ideas for talks. What do you think?
