Dear Fellow Promoers,

As you know, I am contracted by KDE e.v. to carry out promotional and
communication tasks, as well as to help build up, settle and coordinate a team
of people who also carry out these kind of tasks.

As time has gone by and the ambitions of the Promo team have risen, so has the
time necessary to coordinate and carry out all the actions we get assigned or
assign to ourselves. This has had measurable positive impact. For one we now
have a stable team of people (you) who are self-starters, have taken on tasks
that they consistently carry out to their completion and that also largely
agree on the fundamentals of how our tasks should be carried out -- which
helps decrease conflict and increases productivity.

For another, numbers don't lie and looking at the data (which you can do here:
https://share.kde.org/s/ItlX9FfMunCADO5), we have consistently grown the
visibility of KDE, both of our Community and the software we produce, on all
fronts we work on and there is a visible improvement on all metrics from 2017
onward. We are also managing to change the perception of KDE and myths and FUD
about the software being clunky, or buggy, or ugly, or dead are fading away
fast.

The flip side is that, for the last two and a half years, I have not had the
time to do hardly any other contract work due to the fact that KDE has
gradually absorbed most of my waking hours. The problem is my contract is only
for 30 hours a week and I have had no substantial raise in several years. Both
things combined have led me to a financially difficult situation. Due to certain
legal and bureaucratic constraints, the Board and I have been unable to find a
solution to this problem.

In consequence, and while the problem persists, I am urgently forced to cut
back the time I spend working on KDE-related tasks to seek other jobs that
will allow provide me with additional sources of revenue.

I am telling you this now because the latest Plasma 5.18 crunch combined with
the other regular promo tasks have pushed the time spent on KDE-related work
well over the 30-hour mark this week and I have to spend the rest of the week
on other stuff.

I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you and thank you for your
patience.

See y'all next week.

Cheers

Paul
