I mean, like the KIO slave for Google Drive, you cannot expect to connect to Drive, which is provided by Google, without in some shape or form going through Google. On the other hand, one can imagine using a voice-controlling technology without having Google harvesting your utterances. > you don't have to use that backend > https://mycroft-ai.gitbook.io/docs/using-mycroft-ai/customizations/stt-engin > e (we could even have the whole voice interaction part to be opt-in at > startup.. shrug) That would be an excellent solution! Also make it easy to turn off. Once the user is warned about the Google back-end, that would be their responsibility, rendering all criticisms moot. I think I could spin that into a positive without any trouble. I do think you should also look at Eike's points too and try and solve those so we can move ahead with this as this project has a lot of potential.
