The aggregator module in Drupal is already configured to update once
every 30 minutes.

I ended up running the cronjob (which is what is responsible for doing
the aggreator update) manually several times and after a couple of
runs it did pick up new content from Planet. I've a couple of
suspicions on why this may be happening, but for now we'll need to
keep an eye on it and see what happens.
