It worked like this for you.

I took my time fixing the initial issue and provided a neat way for users to
set SDDM layout. You're now complaining that I did not account for your
non-standard use case (writing your own X configs is non-standard) I didn't
even knew about. 

The intended way to configure SDDM are
- /etc/rc.conf
- SDDM's own config files
You can't expect no astonishments when straying from the intended usage path.

Anyways, I'll happily review a patch fixing the issue for you that doesn't
break the machinery I arranged.
