Thank you, Lubos.  I was just about to write a message saying much the same 
thing.

I typically use Gwenview in "browse" mode to deal with directories holding 
anywhere from several hundred to several thousand images, and the thought of 
losing the ability to show 30 or 40 thumbnails at once makes me very sad!
