This is exactly the same thing that I want: to write a comment for a photo
and keep this information within the jpg file (in some of the JPEG, EXIF or
IPTC, doesn't matter which), like I did in Gwenview 1.4, in which was really
and surprisingly fast to do. But now, seems that there isn't an option for
this. Is it still true? You, Aurélien, says then that the option was not
implemented/ported to the version 2.1. Is there any plan to include it?

I think that could be an option to show/hide de comment panel to add
comments quickly. And I'd like I can choose an option to show the comments
in the fullscreen view, during the slideshow.
