Hello Martin, I am not sure why the plugin would consider an iPad to be different from an iPod, I don't know how this plugin works (and don't known any iPod or iPad). This plugin has been developed by the KIPI plugin developers, you can probably get more useful answers by contacting the plugin developers on the kde-imaging mailing list [1].
