Hi K3b support: I'm using K3b version 1.0.3 to burn a 6.8GB iso onto a DVD-R DL disc. The burn fails within 8 seconds. The burn window shows the error. Here are the messages in that window: Using growisofs 7.0 - Copyright bla bla bla Starting disc write... OPC failed. Please try writing speed 1x. Writing speed: 5678 KB/s (4.10x) Write error That statement of "Please try writing speed 1x" is a bit puzzling since there is no 1x selection in the burn dialog box (I verified that by a second attempt on the same disc). The debugging log contains the following: System ----------------------- K3b Version: 1.0.3 KDE Version: 3.5.8-7.fc7 Fedora QT Version: 3.3.8 Kernel: 2.6.23.12-52.fc7 Devices ----------------------- PLEXTOR DVDR PX-740A 1.01 (/dev/sr0, ) [CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD+R DL] [DVD-ROM, DVD-R Sequential, DVD-R Dual Layer Sequential, DVD-R Dual Layer Jump, DVD-RW Restricted Overwrite, DVD-RW Sequential, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD+R Dual Layer, CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW] [SAO, TAO, RAW, SAO/R96R, RAW/R16, RAW/R96R, Restricted Overwrite, Layer Jump] Burned media ----------------------- DVD-R Dual Layer Sequential Used versions ----------------------- growisofs: 7.0 growisofs ----------------------- Executing 'builtin_dd if=/dev/fd/0 of=/dev/sr0 obs=32k seek=0' :-[ PERFORM OPC failed with SK=3h/ASC=11h/ACQ=00h]: Input/output error /dev/sr0: "Current Write Speed" is 4.1x1352KBps. :-[ WRITE@LBA=0h failed with SK=3h/ASC=0Ch/ACQ=00h]: Input/output error :-( write failed: Input/output error growisofs command: ----------------------- /usr/bin/growisofs -Z /dev/sr0=/dev/fd/0 -use-the-force-luke=notray -use-the-force-luke=tty -use-the-force-luke=tracksize:3570944 -dvd-compat -speed=4 -use-the-force-luke=bufsize:32m The package of media says: 8.5GB "Dual Layer" 4X Is this a problem with >2GB ISO's? Is it a problem with some underlying software that K3b expects to be able to handle DVD-R DL discs? Is version 1.0.3 not up to the task and I must upgrade to 1.0.4?
