I doubt that this can be turned off Jon and you probably really don't want to. Yes, it takes a bit of time and that varies with the size of the file you're burning to disc. The larger the .iso file the longer it takes to verify. But the MD5 checksum match is your verification that the file matches the original data. Without that check, you have no way of knowing whether you should even EXPECT the burned disc to be any good at all. And you'll have one more possibility to eliminate if attempting to troubleshoot a failed disc creation. I know it doesn't speed things up, but understanding what is going on may help make the delay more tolerable.
