Hello everyone! I have a frustrating problem I am trying to solve. I have been a Linux user for many years and I am currently using PCLinuxOS since its final version came available last year. One of my most used applications is k3b, and everything has been working well until very recently. I noticed a k3b upgrade was available in the PCLinuxOS repository, so (innocently enough) I upgraded k3b. Since then, k3b takes approximately 20 minutes to launch. I have been working with the PCLinuxOS Support Forum to try to figure this out, so far with no luck. Using the "top" console command, I determined that k3b was running the following series of commands: k3b cdrdao wodim dvd+rw-format growisofs genisoimage normalize readom sox transcode vcdxbuild vcdxminfo vcdxrip k3b (repeats) It takes about 10 minutes to run through the set once, then the set repeats. This accounts for the 20 minute launch time. After this, k3b comes up as expected. Does anyone here have any idea what is happening? Several suggestions have already been tried with no luck, including: Doing a full upgrade, Completely removing k3b and the commands shown above, and reinstalling the Synaptic package files. K3b acts the same whether launched from the KDE menu or from a console window. All other PCLinuxOS users claim they don't see this problem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sponsored by: SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards: VOTE NOW!
