Erasing DVD/RW

Can someone tell me how I quick erase a DVD/RW disc.  I can only see the 
option for erase CD/RW and if I use that it then wants to format the DVD 
which takes forever.  This is annoying as I have to keep using Nero 
Burning Rom in Windows just to get my discs erased.  Its strange how I 
can do everything including burn DVD image etc but cant erase a dvd.
