This fixed it, now it will encode to mp3.



This seemed like a really easy fix and it's not really a fix, it's part of the options in the program. I wonder why no one mentioned it?

In K3b version 1.0.5, in the dialgobox where you edit the lame 
settings, there is also a checkbox lebeled "Write Wave Header", 
you have to enable it.

This will make K3b to pass a wave file to lame, instad of a raw 
file. So lame can understant the input.

Check Settings, Configure K3b, Plugins, K3b External Audio 
Encoder, Mp3 (Lame) settings, I suggest:

lame --preset standard --tt %t --ta %a --tl %m --ty %y --tc %c - %f

and check:

[x] Write Wave Header

so that Lame gets the proper wav input.

You can also try the -r switch, but I think that in this way Lame 
cannot understand the track lenght.

Don't touch the kernel, please :-)
