POSTING A PROBLEM WITH K3B

I very much like using K3b.
Tonight I wanted to continue burning a multi session DVD. I chose the 
movie to add and off it all went automatically until up popped a message :
cdrecord has no permission to burn.......
I checked on the internet and then used terminal and tried to change my 
password by typing in :
su ... my password on pompt
gpasswd -a david cdrom
Instead of the cdrecord has no permission up came a different error this 
time when oplening k3b in terminal. The message was :
Error "/var/tmp/kdecache-david" is owned by uid 1000 instead of uid  0.

I have one DVD installed on my computer and another on a USB.

I tried changing the permission using K3b, but perhaps did something wrong.

If anyone has any ideas I'd greatly appreciate any help.
