Problem with K3b and dual layer DVDs

I have been trying to burn a dvd iso to dual layer DVD+R disks and so far K3b has turned two of them into coasters.  I get about 50% complete and then there's an error (input/output error).  I cannot afford to keep turning perfectly fine blank DVD+R DL disks into coasters and would greatly appreciate some help on getting K3b to burn to them properly.

I am running a Mandriva 2010.0 system, KDE 4.3.5, K3b 1.70.0, on a Sony VAIO w/Matshita UJ-840D DVD/CD drive.
