How does k3b verify disc data?

Hello, i'm writing simple data writing tool using growisofs and have noticed, 
that k3b uses growisofs too. I'd like to know, how does k3b verify written 
data without creating an image. Yes, i can read source code, but i'm 
interested just in base principle.
