Unfortunately there is not much I can do. I don't use (K)Ubuntu. The fact that 
the ppd from linuxprinting.org doesn't function correctly means that you get 
something which is not exactly appropriate for your printer.

I'd guess you need to get an answer from the Ubuntu people, in respect with 
the fact that a configuration that works in Ubuntu doesn't function in 
Kubuntu.
