Million-image databases?

Is there anyone using (or interested in using) KPhotoAlbum to manage
image databases in the range of a million (or more) images, and
possibly thousands or more of distinct tags?  I'm at around 370K
images (and 5.2 TB) right now, but that may not be a particularly
large database by some people's standards, and there may be (read: are
likely to be) additional performance/scalability bottlenecks beyond
that point even after my latest round of fixes.
