Kphotoalbum 5.5-1: Icons gone, my thumbs gone

Hello, Guten Tag, ...

I just started kphotoalbum 5.5-1 on Ubuntu 19.10. Not 100% successful.

Issue 1:

The icons are gone (both in demo mode and on my database) See
attachment 1.

Issue 2:
The thumbs are gone (only when using my database) and the
program complains

QFileDevice::seek: IODevice is not open
kphotoalbum.ImageManager: Failed to seek in thumbnail file

But it does not provide me a PATH or something with the error messages
that are rolling. So where should it build the thumbs or where does it
expect the thumbs to be (but are not there?).

PS: I am trying to upgrade from an ancient version of kphotoalbum that
segfaults.
