I'm pretty sure you know what you're doing, so -- speaking for me -- go for 
it :-)

Even if the Qt guys fix it, we'll see this no earlier than in Qt 5.15.2 
(and I'm pretty sure we won't ...). It will take quite some time for the 
distributors to adopt it. And even if this will be the case, your patch 
won't hurt. We can remove it or do some Qt version check macro conditional 
code if it's actually fixed upstream then.
