I have had KOffice and all its components installed on my Ubuntu
computers for years. Yet I live in OOo, not KOffice. Nevertheless, I
keep it installed because, as you point out, once in a while there is
something that KOffice will do that OOo will not.

However, I have to take exception to the comments above about Kexi. I
recently needed to use data from a Microsoft Access database. OOo could
not do it, but Kexi came to the rescue. That was the good part. The bad
part is that Kexi does not yet implement all the capabilities of
SQLite. I could not do several basic queries - like appending data to
an existing table. SQLite can do these things, the problem is that Kexi
is not fully capable of using all of SQLite's features.

Since I needed to merge the data into OOo I made an OOo Base link to
the Kexi data. This worked well, although it took some study to get it
working. However, it did not resolve the problem of Kexi's failure to
implement all of SQLite's features. I could write an Insert Into query
in OOo Base and it would fail the same as if I wrote the same query in
Kexi. OOo Base merely passes the SQL command to the linked database. If
the linked database can't handle the command, it still fails.

Eventually I gave up on Kexi and just imported the data from Kexi to
OOo Base. Now everything works. 

But having said that there is something in Kexi that I miss - speed.
OOo Base is written in Java. Java is the slowest language ever written.
OOo Base solves all my data needs, but screen redraw is painful.
