Did that already, (see my first msg in this thread) and besides my wrong nomenclature with regard to the device type, I cannot really check this code, since v4l with saa7134 suffers from a more prominent problem, as described 2004/10/05 11:40. Thanks to your effort to bring kdetv's online help to my attention, it convinced me to really want it going with v4l. I tried to resolve that issue with kraxel, but failed so far to find the guiltier. It stalls somehow after displaying two or three frames, because some syscalls return with -EBUSY. The question is, does kdetv release a wrong order of syscalls (unlikely), or is it a saa7134/v4l driver hiccup. The coloured right stripe xvideo issue can be reproduced with xawtv, so it's definitely a lower layer issue. Thanks for your interest, Pete
