German Translation

Hi,

I just made a clean checkout from CVS and found out that the .desktop
files are translated into several languages, but not into german.

Can I go ahead and translate them? Or did I miss that it has been
translated? If it isn't translated, what else needs to be translated
(next to the .desktop files)?
