I have the same problem. I'm using Fedora Core 5, kdetv 0.8.8, kde 
3.5.2, zvbi 0.2.19, kernel 2.6.16-1.2122_FC5 and Hauppauge WinTV PCI. 
kdetv is compiled with FC4. The problem occured after I updated to FC5, 
with FC4 worked ok.
