Default desktop settings

I'm trying to use kickstart to install a large number of machines 
running Fedora 20 with a KDE desktop and I'd like the initial desktop to 
be customized for our environment. Comparing the .kde and other user 
directories after an installation and after customization, I find many 
files that were modified. But even if I add those modified files to my 
kickstart, the desktop is not properly changed. I've also discovered the 
/usr/share/kde-settings tree and put some of the modified files there 
but, again, the initial desktop does not change as I intend.

If this is documented somewhere, I'd sure appreciate a pointer. I've 
tried several search terms but haven't found anything which fits.
