This is what Nautilus is doing ATPM. A nice thing
would be to allow for user-generated links to devices
such as now to optionally allow auto-renaming, and if
no such file on the desktop 'owns' a particular
device, the desktop link will be autogenerated and
auto-renamed on the fly, and auto-removed when done,
when the device is removed.

It would require adding a list of devices the user is
allowed to mount (performed by examining fstab) to the
menu of kdesktop.
