display manager on RH 8

Hi all,

as you should already know, that GDM is the default display manager on Red Hat 
8. It's said that if I wish to use another DM, I have to edit the file :
/etc/sysconfig/desktop 
and add the following line :
DISPLAYMANAGER="KDM"

it doesn't work :( for me. someone can help ?

NB : I use the new beta of KDE 3.1
