kde 3.1 breaks Laptop Suspend/Resume

Suspend/Resume no longer works on my Dell mx300T laptop
running Openbsd 3.3 when the version of kde 3.1 shipped on
the Openbsd 3.3 cdrom is running. After Suspend, Resume brings
up a blinking cursor on a blank screen. I have to turn off the laptop
and then reboot to continue. Suspend/Resume *does* work if kde 
3.1 is not running.(ie I'm running Openbsd in commandline mode)
Suspend/Resume *did* work with the version of kde that 
shipped with Openbsd 3.1.
