knode 3.0.5 Broken on Openbsd 3.2

I just tried running knode 3.0.5 on openbsd 3.2 release (cdrom).
Knode aborted when I attempted to access a news server
and now it locks up in idle/poll before an icon for knode
even gets put on the task bar. Any idea what could be
the problem?
