artsdsp realplay problem

hi,
i'm new to this list and running bsd workstations and hope i'm not off topic

i'm running
FreeBSD 4.9-PRERELEASE #2
kde-3.1.3
arts-1.1.3,1
linux-realplayer-8.cs2_4

when trying to run realplayer under artsdsp i get the following error

[root@quack ~]#artsdsp -v  realplay
artsdsp:       1.1.3
name:
command line:  realplay
threaded:      yes
realplay: error while loading shared libraries:
/usr/local/lib/libartsdsp.so.0: ELF file OS ABI invalid

i could have sworn this worked at one point, but i did a lot portupgrading.

oh and:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:/usr/lib:/usr/X11
i'm also pretty green running linux on fbsd

searching google & kde archives yielded nothing

any help or clue sticks are deeply appreciated
