Hello, And thank you in advance for your time. I just recently installed KDE 3 (from packages from freebsd.kde.org, packages 3.0_1) onto my Freebsd 4.5 system(Dell Inspiron 7000 Laptop). I got a lot of things working fairly quickly(subpixel rendering/antialiasing, themes, etc.) and it was working wonderfully (with the exception of sound and power management, but I'll get to that at some later time in my life). It worked well for a couple days(no reboots), but then I shut down the laptop. Upon bootup, KDM launched and I was able to login as a user, but to my dismay Konsole would not start from the KDE Start Menu(or whatever you call that thing) or the Kicker. It would launch and immediately quit. I could start it by going Alt-F2 and typing in Konsole though and it ran fine, I could also launch it from an xterm. I decided to consult IRC on this but to my surprise KSIRC would fail with the error message that DSIRC is dead. Both of these things(KSIRC and Konsole) worked perfectly the day before, and I haven't implemented any changes at all besides a reboot. This is baffling to me since it's hard to trace down problems with no error messages, and no traceable system changes from the working point to the broken point. I tried to log in as root, and root had the same exact Konsole problem(didn't try KSIRC yet). Any help would be appreciated. - Yuriy
