Problem using KDE

hello,
i have kde installed and it boots properly, however, once everything is 
loaded and the tips palette is showing...it becomes non-responsive. I 
can click on icons on the desktop, but i cannot us or interact with any 
of the window. I click the window and the desktop icons are activated.
I'm using X11 and os x 10.3

any information will be greatly accepted
