I am running SunRay server 3.1 with Solaris 10 (SPARC) and have not 
experienced any of these problems. My install has worked without issue. I 
believe the install instructions state you need a minimum of Solaris 10 03/05 
which I am running. My desktop is KDE 3.5.4.
