I'm doing the same, building qt-copy (which is Qt 4.3 right now, with few if 
any changes). I didn't install the jds stuff since it doesn't seem to be 
necessary. I've got Qt going into /opt/Qt4.3, if that makes sense. I needed 
to add an rpath to /usr/sfw/lib to pull in libfreetype.so.

Did we have any consensus on layout of /opt? Because if we do, it may make 
sense to build stuff and tar it up and host it somewhere for more general use 
(for instance, folks could just fetch the Qt and cmake and ... tarballs 
before starting on KDE).
