Sony Vaio VGN-SZ645P
Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 @ 2.40 GHz
GeForce 8400M GS 256MB
2GB DDR

Since window redraw, etc. is quite snappy under the default GNOME 
desktop, I suspect something else is afoot.
