equivalent of indent-region?

Hi,

I'm not sure if this message been sent when I tried a couple days ago:

What is the equivalent to the function indent-region that Emacs has?

Neither the TAB key (to indent a line), nor 'Tools->Indent', nor 'Tools->Clean 
Indentation' have a useful function.

Indentation, particularly in perl, seems to be required to be done manually.  
Can't kdevelop don't do indentation?
