I was a vi[m] user and only drifted to using IDEs instead because I discovered 1 or 2 that worked just as well for me (and that was partly because of having to use a much less nice MSWin IDE at a former job). I'm rather confident that there's no "KEmacs" but apparently a GTk GUI does exist for it, and GTk can be made to integrate rather nicely with KDE. There also used to be a plugin for KTextEditor (Kate) to add emacs-style commands to it, no idea if that project lives on somehow. R.
