contacts are in your $HOME/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf file.
they should have been recognized by kde4 during an upgrade from kde 3.5.x,
so the question is: did you do a fresh kde4 install on another disk/partition 
? - if so, just copy the file to the new location.
