ok, I just made the last message in my kdepim user folder as NEW. Then I did 2
tests. I went to a folder that had no scroll bar, selected a message. Hit
space bar through the message, then went to the "new" message in KDE. the
message was at the bottom, hidden. I made that message NEW again, went to a
folder that had multiple emails & a scroll bar. Selected a message, hit
spacebar, said YES to go to next new message, went to my NEW kdepim message,
and it WASN'T hidden. so, yes, it seems to be when I go from a non-scrollbar
folder to a folder with a scrollbar. And this is AFTER I tried Anne's
suggestion to change themes:)

so... what is the answer?
