The PIM applications coming with KDE 4.1.x do not use Akonadi. Starting 
with KDE 4.2 (more precisely, KDE 4.2 Beta 1) the address books, 
calendars and todo lists will be handled by Akonadi unless the 
automatic migration is disabled.
